Westinghouse 1080P 42″ LCD TV – HDMI stopped working – Fix

So I just bought a Magnavox NB530MGX Blu-ray player and hooked it up to my Westinghouse 1080p 42″ LCD TV and nothing happened. I brought the cable and unit back to where I purchased it and swapped out the cable since it when we tested the cable it didn’t work in the store, but another cable did. Problem solved! WRONG! I got home hooked it back up and still nothing in the HDMI inputs, none of the 4 HDMI hook ups worked. After doing some research I finally found out that it was not the blu-ray player but in fact it was the Westinghouse 1080p 42″ LCD TV that was having the problem. In order to fix the problem you need to “reset” the TV. To do this follow these steps:
- Turn the power off
- Press and hold the power button for about 10 minutes seconds
- Watch a big “W” appear on the TV
- Reconnect the HDMI cable
This should be good news for people that get a blu-ray player, people that want to hook up their Playstation 3 (PS 3), an HD Connection on their xbox 360.

I have a Westinghouse 47″ 1080P and the HDMI stopped working also. All I did was unplugged the TV for a minute or so. Now it works fine

Seems to be a common problem… Over 277000 refs on G**gle!
The problem is due to the “handshake” that happens when you first plugin. Theres an anti piracy Key-gen that runs on plugging in the cable. Unfortunately the Westinghouse software occasionally “forgets” how to decrypt, requiring a reboot of the firmware. HTH

I don’t even have this type of TV listed here, BUT…..I have a Westinghouse 1080i flat panel I bought about 6 years ago…anyway, last night while playing around with my PS3 this “HDMI handshake” apparently unshook!! I was getting Invalid Format from my PS3…i thought!! Today I went as far as buying a new PS3 and then a new HDMI cable!!! dummy!! I should have went to your website last night!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
